Frequently Asked Questions

Giga Metals Corporation is a company advancing one of the world’s largest undeveloped deposits of sulfide nickel and cobalt, also prospective for copper, platinum and palladium. The company is committed to responsible development and sustainable value creation in a Tier-1 Canadian jurisdiction.

Giga Metals’ flagship project is the Turnagain Project, located in north-central British Columbia on the territory of the Tahltan Nation and Kaska Dena. The Turnagain deposit ranks among the largest undeveloped sulfide nickel deposits in the world and includes meaningful quantities of cobalt, platinum and palladium.

The Turnagain Project is held in Hard Creek Nickel Corporation, a subsidiary jointly owned by Giga Metals Corporation and Mitsubishi Corporation. Mitsubishi acquired its interest in 2022.

The 2023 Pre-Feasibility Study outlined a 30-year project life with average annual nickel and cobalt output of approximately 37,000 tonnes, a post-tax NPV of US$574 million, and a high-grade concentrate of 18% Ni with 1.1% Co.

The Turnagain Nickel-Cobalt Project has a Measured and Indicated mineral resource of 1,573.9 million tonnes at 0.210% Ni, containing 3,381 kt of nickel, plus an Inferred resource of 1,163.8 million tonnes at 0.206% Ni, containing 2,405 kt of nickel.

Giga Metals is designing Turnagain as a low-carbon nickel mine through use of hydroelectric power, an electrified mining fleet with electric shovels and drills, and carbon mineralization research to permanently sequester CO2 in waste rock and tailings, targeting one of the lowest emissions intensities among global nickel development projects.

Arca Climate Technologies and Giga Metals signed an exclusive agreement to explore carbon removal at Turnagain, with the potential to remove 220 million tonnes of atmospheric CO2. The 10-year agreement grants Arca the exclusive right to evaluate the ultramafic waste rock and mine tailings for permanent CO2 removal from the atmosphere.

The Turnagain property lies 65 kilometres east of the community of Dease Lake, which is located on Highway 37, about 400 kilometres north of the deep-water Port of Stewart. The site is in the Stikine Region of northern British Columbia, Canada and is approximately 185 kilometres from Newmont’s Red Chris mine.

Giga Metals Corporation is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol GIGA, on the OTCQB Exchange under the symbol GIGGF, and on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the symbol BRR2.

The Turnagain ultramafic complex is also prospective for copper, platinum and palladium mineralization in the Attic Zone, an area adjacent to the known nickel resource.
